The funnels along with other creatures and things search for surprise. They play with moonlight, are afraid of Derelict Shirret and make fun of Raven. As the night progresses they witness preparations for a longer journey and together with a desperately slow snail troubled by his shell-house, Potato Mouse, and Fingoor at the head of the company they approach the Gallows Hill. The hobgoblin The Twelve Nix and his loyal Glutton disturb them, nevertheless they reach the top of the hill and watch…

Christian Morgenstern (1871-1914)
Morgenstern is regarded as the founder of German nonsense poetry and a master of grotesque verses. We have employed several poems from his collection Galgenlieder based on puns and language humour. Humour and nonsense is close to child's soul and imagination. Morgenstern is strictly non-pathetic in his poems and uses highly individual forms of abstract lyric thus giving enough space for puppet improvisation. Crying is often only one step removed from laughter in children and Morgenstern's grotesque lyric just as well, it manifests this peculiar boundary in the realm of reality where comedy meets tragedy, graveness laughter and horror joke. We produce a dreamlike vision of a night wayfaring in a forest where things funny and absurd, cute and cracky are about to happen. The play is aimed at the development of child's imagination, it is cheerful and poetic just as the seven poems you are about hear out.
